For the third interview we have a returning artist of Chip Bit Day, coming back for a third time; HarleyLikesMusic.Based in Sheffield, HarleyLikesMusic creates fat bassy music on a Gameboy Advance SP with LSDJ. A huge player in the chiptune community, Harley has played live almost all over the world, whilst simultaneously releasing killer albums across with a variety of music labels.

1. Who are you, what is your artist name and where do you come from?
My name is Harley Raine from Sheffield and I go as HarleyLikesMusic.

2. What music do you make & what instruments/hardware/software do you use?
I make Underground Bass using a Gameboy Advance SP on LSDJ.

3. How did you get into the chiptune scene?
A friend at the college I went to told me he was turning his Gameboy into a synthesizer and everything else snowballed from there.

4. How has your music evolved since then?
I feel I have learnt to create music for myself rather than what other people want to hear.

5. Where have you played?
Around Europe, North America, Australia, Japan

6. What has been your favourite venue you’ve played at?
Square Sounds Tokyo, Koenji High Tokyo (JP).

7. Describe your music in one word (or emoji).

8. What’s been the highlight of your musical career?
Creating friendships.

9. What’s your favourite artist and song at the moment?
Currently I listen to Jamie XX a lot, I feel he has such diverse knowledge of music history to be able to.craft the music he makes. Gosh is one of my all time favourite tracks.

10. What one piece of advice would you give to someone starting out in chiptune?
Treat people as you expect to be treated.

11. Favourite game soundtrack?
Final Fantasy 7
